Subject The article considers designation of resources for regional innovative activity, and evaluates factors having the greatest impact on resource formation, distribution and employment for innovative development of the Central Federal District.
Objectives The study aims to identify areas to stir up resourcing for innovative activities of socio-economic systems of regions to promote economic growth and improve living standards.
Methods Using the economic and mathematical methods and principles of statistical analysis, we evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of innovation activity in the Central Federal District regions based on the ratio of produced innovative products to the cost of technological innovation, and the ratio of total developed advanced technologies and filed patent applications to the number of personnel engaged in R&D.
Results The calculated table values and generated graphs served as a basis for ranking the regions by the efficiency and effectiveness of their innovative activities. We normalized the obtained data through calculating the average value of obtained ranks.
Conclusions and Relevance The findings helped establish existing dependencies and highlight leaders among developed territories from an innovation perspective. Our analysis shows that the Central Federal District regions do not have high indicators of efficiency and effectiveness, and demonstrate certain imbalances on one of the criteria due to presence or absence of required resources to support various types of business operations.
