Importance The article discusses consequences of real and potential threats to the national interests of the Russian Federation as a result of drug trafficking. Objectives The research examines and analyzes consequences of real and potential threats to the national security of Russia arising from drug trafficking so to devise a uniform model for countering the threats and improve the anti-drug policy today. Methods The research employs analytical, statistical and logic methods and illustrates various countries in analyzing personal, social and national consequences of drug trafficking. Results I detect hazards for certain groups of population and evaluate the drug trafficking situation in a more accurate and complete manner. Conclusions and Relevance Drug trafficking and growing drug addiction invoke many adverse consequences, which may aggravate real and potential threats to the country. Monitoring the drug situation, it is reasonable to evaluate real and potential threats from drug trafficking for a person, society and the State and arrange for preventive remedies for the drug threat. The findings can be used to improve anti-drug activities, determine the most relevant contemporary and effective measures against drug trafficking.
