Importance The research reviews forecasts and possibilities of changes in the Chinese economy in implementing the Silk Road Economic Belt strategy.
Objectives We conduct a comparative analysis of the economic security of China and other SCO countries with respect to external and internal threats under the auspices of their economic cooperation.
Methods The article scrutinizes various indicators of China's economic security that reflect its economic cooperation. Using statistical and econometric methods, we evaluate the security of China's economy as part of its economic cooperation with the SCO countries, USA and EU.
Results We made a comparative assessment of changes in the economic security of China and other SCO counties as part of their economic cooperation. The proposed economic security assessment approaches allow to determine priorities in the economic policy of China, Russia and EEU, India, Pakistan, Turkey and other countries in Central and Eastern Asia.
Conclusions and Relevance The security level of China's economy in its cooperation with the SCO economies can be assessed as a product of multiplicands describing the mutual effect of those economies. The findings enable us to assume that the Silk Road Economic Belt initiative may increase the economic security of China and other SCO countries.
