Ethical city as a condition of sustainable development

Subject This article examines the concept of an Ethical City and discusses the factors that shape the concept. The article gives special importance to the safety parameters of the urban environment.
Objectives The article aims to designate and disclose the category of an Ethical City as a territory of sustainable development. As well, it aims to highlight the factors and trends that determine the formation of an ethical city and classify indicators that help assess the level of ethics of the urban environment.
Methods For the study, we used the methods of statistical, economic, and situational analyses.
Results The article presents the results of the survey of the population of the City of Kolomna, allowing to rank the factors forming the category of an Ethical City. It specifies the concept of Comfort in relation to the urban environment and offers a classification of comfort factors in urban areas. The article also discusses the indicators used to evaluate the ethical city and substantiates the relevance of the introduction of the concept of an Ethical City into scientific circulation.
Conclusions and Relevance The introduction of the category of an Ethical City and the diagnosis of socio-economic factors of its development will contribute to improving the comfort and safety of the urban environment. The main conclusions can be recommended for municipal authorities to form a comfortable urban environment and create an urban competitive economy.
