Subject This article develops conceptual bases of an information system and database to determine the ecological acceptability of realization of investment projects. Objectives The article aims to develop an information system that helps automate the process of calculating the indicators necessary to determine the ecological reserve of a particular territory, and form a database. Methods For the study, we used the technique by T.A. Akimova and V.V. Khaskin to assess the population carrying potential, taking into account the territorial peculiarities, and the method of environmental damage prevention to estimate the reduced masses of pollutants. Results The article presents a developed and tested information system for calculation of ecological reserve of the territory, and also a database of indicators of ecological reserve of territories of municipal entities of the Republic of Buryatia. The article introduces a concept of ecological reserve of the territory as a correlation of population carrying capacity and existing anthropogenic load. As well, the article presents a logical data model and the main tables of ecological reserve of the territory. Conclusions and Relevance The calculations show that the developed information system corresponds to the subject area. The developed software product is officially registered. The information base can be used as a tool for making an ecologically oriented economic decision.
