Subject. The article addresses the introduction of quantum technologies, problems of development of large cities and agglomerations.
Objectives. The purpose is to analyze the possibilities of using quantum technologies in urban planning in the Russian Federation, assess achievements in the development of quantum systems.
Methods. The study rests on methods of systems, comparative, logical, and statistical analysis.
Results. We developed a methodology for using the city success index to assess the use of quantum technologies in urban planning, calculated the said index for the largest cities of the Russian Federation. According to our calculations, Moscow and St. Petersburg are leaders in the implementation of quantum solutions, while Samara, Volgograd, and Omsk are outsiders.
Conclusions. Thanks to the advent of quantum computing, there can be a breakthrough in the development of urban studies.
