Subject. This article considers the fuel and energy complex as a key segment regional economy.
Objectives. The article aims to assess measures of support for the fuel and energy complex, and determine its role in ensuring the energy security of Russia.
Methods. For the study, we used comparative, and correlation and regression analyses.
Results. The article presents the results of the analysis of the development of the fuel and energy complex of the Ryazan Oblast in economic, social and environmental aspects and identifies the main challenges that impede the development of the industry. The article improves the model of State support for the regional fuel and energy complex, the specific feature of which is the delimitation of support measures at the federal and regional levels.
Conclusions. In an unstable foreign policy environment, the regional fuel and energy complex is undergoing many changes in its internal functioning, and the actualization of the environmental agenda within the framework of the concept of sustainable development plays a significant role in this.
