Importance The article focuses on individual housing construction and analyzes its regional specifics during the economic recession in the Russian Federation. Objectives The research combines fragmented data in publicly available sources to collect information for better understanding of relationships among actors of the individual housing construction market and forecasting of further development and possible implications for business and the public in housing construction. Methods Using systems and statistical approaches, I analyzed how the economic crisis influenced the individual housing construction in the Russian Federation. Results The article presents analytical data on indicators of the individual housing construction market and outlines possible trends in the segment. Conclusions and Relevance The suburban real estate market in Russia had been developing more slowly than multi-storey construction. However, the segment survived the economic crisis without significant losses. The market is seeing the emergence of comprehensive developer projects. Demand for suburban housing has been growing for several years with a slight slowdown during the crisis. The findings can be used as recommendation for construction companies and developers.
