Subject. This article examines the factors influencing the decision-making to implement BIM technologies in project management in construction.
Objectives. The article aims to show that in modern conditions, for the effective implementation of the project, it is important to widely use innovative technologies, namely, BIM technologies, that this technology is not just software for high-quality and fast modeling only, it is necessary to optimize management in the construction industry as a whole.
Methods. For the study, I used a content analysis, comparative analysis, and statistics data.
Results. The article considers BIM technologies not only as a design tool, but also as a technology that coordinates all departments of the construction organization. The basic principles of BIM technology implementation are also considered. The article shows that BIM technologies help track design, estimate work, organization and management of construction, the construction process and many other related processes. This technology also helps monitor the progress of construction processes in real time and make quick decisions if deviations from the planned indicators of cost, quality and construction time get detected.
Conclusions. The article concludes that BIM technologies in companies of various sizes in Russia belong to the future. However, there are many difficulties to overcome in the construction industry and take into account the impact of a number of external and internal factors in the implementation of BIM technologies.
