The article emphasizes that the active development of consumer crediting in absence of a proper legal basis and low financial culture of the population can cause in the short term a number of economic and social problems in the near future. The author points out that increasing number of individuals - bank loan borrowers find themselves in a difficult situation related to the inability to fulfill obligations. The work reveals that legal mechanisms allowing solving the specified problems in the Russian law do not exist. The paper investigates draft laws that are most likely to be adopted in the near future and will affect this sphere.
