Importance The article presents our attempt to analyze economic and sociocultural trends in Crimea's development during the Soviet rule within the period of 1960 through 1975.
Objectives The research focuses on trends in financial standing and the cultural level of the Crimeans during 1960–1975. We also describe changes in Crimea's education system, and conduct a comparative analysis of the 1960–2014 indicators.
Methods Using methods of comparative and historical analysis, we examined economic and sociocultural trends in Crimea's development during the Soviet rule. The research involves a content analysis of economic texts, thus facilitating a quantitative analysis of archives on economic trends in Crimea's development, and corpus of texts so to further interpret patterns identified.
Results We analyzed the principal indicators of financial standing and cultural level of the Crimeans during 1960–1975. The article also indicates significant changes in the employment structure of Crimea during 1913–1973.
Conclusions and Relevance We conclude that economic trends and sociocultural development of Crimea during 1960–1975 rely upon principles of five-year and forward-looking planning. As for understanding of the ongoing reforms, this research may be of interest for contemporary economists and experts in long-term planning and forecasting of Russia's economy.
