Importance The Russian scientific community managed to formulate principal concepts of economic security as it had been attempting to do since the 1990s. However, many other theoretical points remain unsettled. When is the economy safe and secure? It necessitates not only applied researches but also directs theoretical studies based on foreign experience, in particular.
Objectives The research examines and analyzes the concept of economic security in Poland. I compare key principles of the concept in Poland and Russia, evaluate their difference and similarities, identify dissenting points of view.
Methods Scrutinizing proceedings by the Polish scholars majoring in economic security, I consider the crucial aspects, conceptual framework and applicable approaches to economic security. I conduct a comparative analysis of the basic principles of the economic security theory with respect to Poland and Russia.
Results The article points out views of the leading Polish experts in economic security, emphasizes the resultant categories and approaches. I also analyzed economic security indicators.
Conclusions and Relevance Being developed both in Poland and Russia, economic security concepts have differences and similarities. It means that both countries may understand the subject differently. This assumption can be proved with the concept of economizing in security or an augmented version of the conventional approach to the economic security structure.
