Subject. The article discusses the role of energy security in economic growth.
Objectives. The aim is to analyze specific features of the energy security system in the Russian Federation.
Methods. The study rests on methods of systems, comparative, structural, and logical analysis.
Results. We substantiated the need for conceptualization of the energy security concept, analyzed the four-component concept of energy security, systematized approaches to solving problems related to Russia's energy security.
Conclusions. The problems of consumption growth should not hinder the creation of a common platform for the scientific analysis of problems in the energy sector and implementation of the concept of sustainable development.
