Subject. The article considers the issue of oil and gas complex management.
Objectives. The aim is to analyze the impact of the oil and gas complex on the environment, socio-economic development of Russia as a whole.
Methods. The study draws on methods of systems, comparative, structural, and logical analyses.
Results. The paper demonstrates opportunities associated with the implementation of the strategy for oil and gas complex development, with creation of new technologies and products enabling Russian companies to remain competitive in the face of rapid changes in the oil and gas market.
Conclusions. Under conditions of reduced gas production in Russia, the Government of the Russian Federation should step up measures of comprehensive support for oil and gas enterprises, as the latter are budget-forming ones.
