Importance The article studies the experiences of the development of the energy sector of the Persian Gulf countries, the Kingdom of Bahrain in particular. It is relevant in connection with the need to diversify the economy of the Russian Federation, in general, and oil-producing regions in particular. Objectives The paper aims to identify the key stages in the development of strategic for the Kingdom of Bahrain industry, identifying areas of modernization of the industry, as well as modern trends in the oil and gas sector. Methods I studied the development of the oil and gas industry of Bahrain, using a historical method, as well as the methods of analysis, synthesis, and induction. Results I defined the contemporary state of the industry and identified the main directions of modernization. Relevance Given the global economic turbulence and volatility of energy prices, my proposals for strengthening the energy sector in Bahrain can be applied for the Russian Federation as well.
