Subject. This article discusses policy issues in the field of healthcare. Objectives. The article aims to determine the impact of the public health system's development on economic advancement. Methods. For the study, we used a regression analysis. Results. The article finds that the level of human capital correlates positively with the variable reflecting the development of healthcare, and demonstrates a variety of trends. Conclusions. It is necessary to augment the human capital in the subjects of the Ural Federal District in various areas, namely, the development of education, public healthcare, and social systems, as well as the development of a food culture and healthy lifestyle.
