The insurance market of Uzbekistan and the need to create mutual insurance companies

Importance The article considers the mutual insurance, its distinctive features, advantages and the necessity of its introduction in Uzbekistan.
Objectives The aim is to describe the condition of the insurance market in Uzbekistan and identify problems related to its development, to substantiate advantages of mutual insurance and benefits of its introduction in certain branches of economy, including agriculture.
Methods The basic research in the field of insurance activities served as a methodological framework. The paper employs structural, logical, and systems approaches.
Results I analyzed the condition of the insurance market of Uzbekistan and compared it with markets of other countries. The analysis revealed its specifics, shortcomings and problems. I unveil common and salient features of mutual and commercial insurance, highlight advantages of the former. One of the main ways of this market development is creation of mutual insurance companies, especially in the sphere of agricultural insurance.
Conclusions Based on the findings, I offer recommendations on how to develop the insurance market and improve the quality of its services. To develop the insurance market in parallel with commercial insurance, it is necessary to introduce mutual insurance in agriculture.
