Global trends in the development of post-industrial society urgently raise the issue on the formation of the innovation economy, the basis of which should be regional modules of the national innovation system. In the article on the author's methodology and the documents declaring the strategic objectives of the development of the Russian Federation and its subjects, the analysis of innovative development prospects of the regions of the Central Federal District is presented.
