Importance The article reviews the current condition and development prospects for the methodology of economic science from the perspective of interaction of qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis.
     Objectives
The study aims to provide theoretical underpinning of modern state, problems and prospects for interaction of qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis in economic research, and to reveal possible trends in their integration as a premise of further development of the economic science methodology.
     Methods
In the study, we employed general scientific methods like observation, analysis, synthesis, comparison, induction, and deduction.
Results We have generalized theoretical and methodological bases of qualitative and quantitative approaches in economics, disclosed and systematized problems in this sphere, identified preconditions for creating a scientific approach that would integrate qualitative and quantitative methods of research of the economic reality, defined areas of further development of techniques for economic science considering the evolution of interaction of qualitative and quantitative methods of investigation. The article includes recommendations on the use of integrated qualitative-and-quantitative approach in economic research and in economic processes management.
     Conclusions
We emphasize the need to develop the synergetic paradigm methodology from the position of realization of applied mathematics technologies, and the trinary methodology that investigates the problem of the third component in the dilemma, which would provide the integrity of the entire triad. Our key recommendation is to create integration of public authorities, education, production, industry, and business to develop a qualitative-and-quantitative methodology of economic research.
