Subject In the modern context, it is extremely important to identify the most efficient forms of State support. There is a need to evaluate specific measures from the perspective of their impact on the eventual outcome as applied to different economic environment. Objectives The aim is to assess the impact of insurance and lending as one of the most important areas of support that considers regional differences, including differences in the scale of operations, sectoral structure of production, and structure of support. The target of the research is regions of the Ural and Siberian Federal Districts. Methods The major research techniques include the analysis of works on the considered aspects of State support, the comparative analysis of production and support indicators, and variance, correlation, and cluster analyses. Results The comparative analysis of the structure of State support for insurance and lending in both federal districts unveiled differences in the structure, sources and results of the support. We compared the size of support with agricultural performance and revealed significant variations in the absolute and relative size of support to lending in the groups of regions, which cause different impact on agricultural production. Conclusions The amount of subsidies to insurance support does not account for variations in production indicators of the federal districts. The sectoral structure of support to insurance and its relative amounts do not reflect differences in the performance indicators of the federal districts. State support to insurance and lending enables to reduce relative burden on the regional budget.
