Subject The unified theory of sustainable development of economic entities at different hierarchical levels should rest on the system economic theory, being developed under the guidance of G.B. Kleiner for the balanced system-wide management of the economy at the macro-, meso- and microeconomic level. The economic system's balance is described by the proportionality of structural components, which are presented in the form of analytical indicators.
Objectives The aim of the study is to develop a unified theory of sustainable development and enhance theoretical and methodological provisions for assessing the system-wide balance of economic entities at different hierarchical levels.
Methods The study draws on methods of analysis, synthesis, grouping, comparison, abstraction, generalization, and analogy.
Results As an alternative to the methodology for assessing the balance of the system structure of economic entities, we apply a resource-oriented economic analysis. Its theoretical and methodological provisions are tested on economic entities of different hierarchical levels.
Conclusions It is possible to measure the balance of enterprise's system structure using the methodological provisions of resource-oriented economic analysis. The given balance can be predicted by changing the volume of consumed resources and their impact.
