Subject The concept of sourcing is a neologism in economic terminology, and the economy of sourcing is a new area in economic sciences, though the concept of outsourcing is addressed in academic papers and monographs. The article deals with sourcing, which, on the one hand, has debating points in its specific elements, and on the other hand, this area is not formed as a holistic system yet.
Objectives The study aims to develop a number of tenets for the formation of the economy of sourcing as a holistic system.
Methods We review production forms of such models of sourcing as outsourcing, insourcing and co-sourcing.
Results We developed a number of theoretical provisions to form the economy of sourcing as a single system. The findings may be useful for academic economists as tools to formalize the fundamentals and basic elements of the economy of sourcing.
Conclusions The proposed theoretical provisions are the first steps in developing our own conception of creating the economy of sourcing as a holistic system.
