Subject The article deals with assessing the innovation-driven growth and developing innovation strategies of companies operating in the in nuclear industry. Objectives The aim is to test my own methodology for evaluating the innovation development of engineering companies in the nuclear industry to manage their competitiveness. Methods The study employs general scientific research methods, as well as methods of strategic analysis, classification and graphical visualization, and the matrix approach. Results I test my own methodology for evaluating the innovation development, and compare engineering companies of the of nuclear industry. I classify the selected companies in terms of their innovation development, clarify the innovation and basic strategies, and give recommendations for Russian engineering companies of the nuclear industry based on the tools of systems analysis and management in the economy. Conclusions To manage competitiveness, it is necessary to constantly monitor innovation development and evaluate its effectiveness. The strategic importance of the nuclear industry and activities of its engineering companies for the national and global economy, as well as insufficiently considered assessment of effectiveness and prospects of innovative development in economic science necessitate a comprehensive algorithm and its testing. A methodological support to assessing the innovation to manage competitiveness may include both traditional and modified tools of systems analysis and management.
