Integration of economic disciplines into engineering training programs as a precondition for nurturing professionals that are in demand in the modern labor market

Subject The article deals with designing the engineering education programs, taking into account the formation of economic competences envisaged by educational standards.
Objectives The purpose of the study is to develop proposals for creating a universal economic module in the structure of engineering education programs at bachelor’s level that will enable to form competences envisaged by educational standards and train marketable graduates.
Methods The study employs methods of expert analysis of normative documents relevant for education, methods of comparison and deduction.
Results Based on comparison of Federal State Educational Standards of 3+ and 3++ generation and the analysis of works by Russian experts, I defined economic competences for engineers. The paper offers the ‘Economic Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship in Professional Sphere’ module for bachelor training to form economic competences required by educational standards.
Conclusions The integration of disciplines aimed at formation of economic competences of future engineers into bachelor’s degree programs will enable to train marketable specialists.
