Subject Internet markets play an important role in digital economy. This necessitates their assessment by volume, structure, and dynamics, as well as their development prospects in Russia and worldwide.
Objectives I focus on comprehensive statistical analysis of the volume of Internet markets in Russia, their development, prevailing growth trends in comparison with foreign countries.
Methods The study employs methods of statistical analysis and generalization of scientific articles, Russian laws and regulations, reports of international and Russian organizations and analytic centers, publications in mass media on assessment of digital economy in general and Internet markets in particular.
Results The paper presents an overview of scientific, legislative and analytical information on Internet markets; analytical tables reflecting the volumes of and trends in the Internet economy in certain segments and markets; generalizing characteristics of Internet markets development. It analyzes factors contributing to changes in the volume, structure and growth rates of online markets.
Conclusions The academic literature reviews individual Internet markets, however, it does not provide a comprehensive analysis. Russian Internet markets are developing rapidly, although they lag behind a number of countries in terms of volume. E-commerce and payment services markets have the largest volumes, and the role of mobile markets is increasing. In the future, the emerging trends will continue.
