Subject The article considers the Russian economy structure. Objectives The aim is to determine the parameters of structural functionalism of the Russian economy and build a model that corresponds to it. Methods The study rests on systems approach, using the statistical, cluster and non-parametric analysis, as well as autocorrelation and cross-correlation methods. Results The paper makes arguments for applying the theory of structural functionalism in the Russian economic policy to ensure stable economic growth and improve the structure of economic reality. The basis of economic policy in modern Russia should be the functional integration of the parts of the Russian economy structure that are formed under specific conditions and implemented on principles of social network theory. The offered algorithm for analyzing the structural functionalism of the Russian economy should become a key method of functional integration, and the use of cluster and non-parametric analysis, autocorrelation and cross-correlation – the main tool for creating stable clusters enabling sustainable economic growth and development. Conclusions The analysis of structural functionalism of the Russian economy revealed two stable clusters (government final consumption expenditure and consumer price index) that show the targets for implementing the model of structural functionalism of today’s Russian economy. The limits of the model can be assessed using the Cobb-Douglas formula, where the factors are the policy of the Bank of Russia for inflation targeting and final consumption expenditure of the State.
