Subject The article deals with the analysis of traditional functionalities of economic practice from the perspective of the developing theory of economic systems. To assess the potential of corporate governance of company foreign trade activity, it is important to know the structure and functionality of its systems' components, in particular, its regulatory subsystem.
Objectives The study aims to build a structural-functional model of the regulatory subsystem of company's foreign trade activity tetrad based on the theory of system-wide economics.
Methods The study rests on works on the theory of economic systems. I apply the systems approach, methods of analysis and synthesis, grouping and comparison, abstraction, generalization, analogies, logical analysis, and the elements of management theory.
Results I built a structural-functional model of the regulatory subsystem of the tetrad of company's foreign trade activities. The paper specifies ‘rules, control, and responsibility’ of the system of four types of basic typology that correspond to the regulatory triad, and substantiates their inclusion in the regulatory subsystem structure. It also describes regulatory processes of each system and the content of goods produced and consumed.
Conclusions The structural-functional model enabled to identify four systems that are responsible for the result of State regulation of foreign trade and to describe the regulatory process from the perspective of the spatio-temporal approach as a single methodological basis for analyzing other subsystems of the tetrad in order to improve the corporate governance process efficiency.
