Subject. Scarce resources of the national economy hinder from taking full advantage of already tested technologies and/or developing new ones. Therefore, digital transformation strategizing processes are of particular importance. They enable to rationally synchronize the processes of transformation and identify priority directions of development. This requires an accessible and understandable methodology.
Objectives. The study aims to develop and justify methodological approaches to assess the level of digital maturity of an enterprise and its readiness to implement digital transformation projects.
Methods. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study was scientific works of foreign and domestic scientists, leading consulting companies on theories of management, strategy, and innovation management.
Results. I performed a comprehensive analysis of existing foreign and domestic methods for assessing the digital maturity of enterprises and their readiness for digital transformation, and presented my own approach to assessment on its basis.
Conclusions. The developed principles of assessment involve the allocation of five basic functional areas of the enterprise and the corresponding criteria, the implementation of which will form a foundation for successful implementation of digital transformation project through reasonably defined priorities, goals, and objectives.
