Subject. The article deals with strategic business practices of workforce development in the creative economy.
Objectives. The focus is on identification of strategic solutions in the field of workforce development of enterprises of the creative economy of Japan.
Methods. The study rests on classical methods of economic analysis, synthesis, comparison, abstraction, and benchmarking, and employs the theory of strategy and methodology of strategizing by V.L. Kvint, a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Results. The study identified the main methods and tools for the development of human resources. They include training and talent management programs. The strategic principle of flexibility and adaptability should be noted.
Conclusions. Workforce development can help organizations operating in creative industries produce innovative and high-quality products and services with greater added value. The findings can be used by domestic companies of the creative economy.
