Importance Green economy and its advancement depend on investing processes that can activate businesses throughout the regions of the Russian Federation and motivate them for the balance of interests between environmental protection and economic activities. The research focuses on the efficacy of investment in fixed assets designated for environmental protection.
Objectives The research represents a detailed statistical analysis of investment in environmental protection of the Russian Federation and substantiates the specifics of environmental investment.
Methods Using a systems approach and analysis of statistical data, we evaluated the efficacy of environmental investment and conducted a correlation analysis to examine how investment in fixed assets for environmental protection purposes and volume of anthropogenic pollution correlate.
Results The article describes the current state and trends in the development of environmentally-oriented investing activity. Environmental investment was found to remain very low in the Russian Federation. We also explained how growing environmental investment influenced a reduction in adverse anthropogenic and environmental footprint.
Conclusions and Relevance We understood the nature and the way environmental investment and various pollution types relate. To reduce the anthropogenic footprint, it is vital to activate more investment in the best available technologies, which would at least have a dual effect of raising economic indicators and improving the environment. The findings can be used by governmental authorities to set up investment strategies for green economy purposes at the regional level.
