Importance Innovative development of meat processing plants is important for increasing the quality of products, production pace and volume. In this respect, the article focuses on the structure of corporate innovative capabilities and extracting key factors that influence them. Objectives The research analyzes key theoretical approaches to determining the substance, structure of corporate innovative capabilities. I also point out the specifics of respective activities of meat processing plants and systematize factors that influence the development of innovative capabilities of meat processing enterprises. Methods The research employs a comparative analysis of approaches to determining the substance, structure of corporate innovative capabilities. Results The article overviews resource, comprehensive and performance approaches to determining the substance of corporate innovative capabilities. Considering the specifics of meat processing plants' operations, I propose my own interpretation, determine and describe the key components of innovative capabilities, with information security of the information environment being singled out. The research scrutinizes how information security and innovative capabilities correlate. Conclusions and Relevance Innovative capabilities of the meat processing plant constitute its preparedness and ability to operate in an innovative fashion, using available resources and opportunities in a safe information environment. Reflecting the interaction of factors that affect the development of innovative capabilities of meat processing plants, the proposed structure includes external and internal factors. As information technologies pierce more areas of social life, it is necessary to consider the relationship among information security and innovative capabilities, data protection and resistance to external threats. The findings are designated for scholars and practitioners, who specialize in corporate economics and finance, as well as for students, graduates and teachers of economic universities.
