Due to the crisis developments in the world economy various national economy sectors need the State support. In the Sverdlovsk region, the metallurgical sector development is a significant area. In the study, we describe the modern regional mechanisms of the State support to iron and steel companies' development on the basis of the analysis of regional regulations, laws, State programs and reports. The study includes the examples of using such mechanisms by various enterprises and identifies the ways of their perfection. We conclude that the considered mechanisms of economic support enable to provide assistance various enterprises regardless of their profit and investment amounts in modernization projects. It will be possible to assess the efficiency of the State support measures, their influence on the financial performance of the metal industry only in several years. Nowadays there is a reserve in the sphere of introducing new mechanisms of the State regional development. Draft regional law "On Industrial Parks of the Sverdlovsk Region" is under way. It will provide additional economic incentives. Even now on the basis of two large enterprises, JSC Sinarsky Pipe Plant and Bogoslovsk Aluminium Smelter (a RUSAL branch) with the involvement of OJSC Middle Ural Development Corporation, two management companies of industrial parks "Sinarsky" and "Bogoslovsky" (respectively) have been registered. Participation of the metallurgical complex enterprises in the industrial park creation will enable to lower expenses and attract new consumers of their products.
