Subject This article considers the economic relations arising between subjects of the market of payment cards. Objectives The article aims to investigate the current state, tendencies and problems of the market of payment cards in Russia, predict the main directions of its development and propose measures to improve the efficiency of the card industry. Methods For the study, we analyzed the market performance quantitative indicators and revealed the basic lines of the market's development. Results The article describes peculiarities of functioning and prospects of development of the Russian National Payment Card System. Relevance The results of the research can be used in practice by the heads of banking sector and related industries organizations, as well as professionals in payment card market.
