Subject. The article discusses major trends in digital transformation of the Russian banking sector. Objectives. The purpose of the study is to examine the main trends and trends in the development of digital technologies in the Russian banking sector. Methods. The study employed general scientific methods of scientific knowledge: analysis and synthesis, comparison and generalization, and systems approach. The information base was made up of analytical materials of TMT Consulting company and the NAFI Research Center. Results. I decomposed the definition of “digital transformation”, underpinned prerequisites for digital transformation of the Russian banking sector, analyzed the main trends and directions of digitalization of the Russian banking sector, and the use of digital technologies as a key tool for increasing the efficiency of business processes. Conclusions. Digital transformation is a priority for the development of the Russian banking system. The development of digital technologies contributes to changes in the environment, business models of banks, as well as forms and channels of customer service. The findings can be used by banks to develop digital transformation strategies.
