Subject. The study is devoted to the analysis of the labor market and unemployment rate in the Siberian Federal District of the Russian Federation.
Objectives. The aim of the work is to assess the impact of key labor market indicators on the unemployment rate and the number of workers in the region.
Methods. The study rests on correlation and regression analysis, statistical data collection and processing. It explores the effect of economic indicators and political decisions on dynamics of the labor market and unemployment rate.
Results. The paper demonstrates that there is a relationship between the unemployment rate and such indicators as average nominal wages, real wages, the percentage of workers in harmful or dangerous conditions, labor productivity, etc. We revealed that the number of university graduates affects the state of the labor market and the unemployment rate in the region. The findings can be used by government authorities, business and the public at large. They can be applied to develop strategies and programs for unemployment reduction and working conditions improvement in the Siberian region.
Conclusions. We concluded about factors affecting the unemployment rate and the number of workers in the Siberian Federal District, and developed recommendations on unemployment reduction and working conditions improvement in the region.
