Objectives The research identifies and analyzes factors determining the development of strategic technological platforms.
Methods The research employs methods of logic analysis and synthesis as part of the methodology for technological forecast and network methodological approach.
Results I analyze foreign and national efforts to develop technological platforms and identify development trends and determinants. The article presents my recommendation to boost the effective development of strategic technological platforms. The novelty of this article is that it offers recommendations for enhancing the development of strategic technological platforms ensuring the technological security of Russia and forming post-industrial waves of innovation.
Conclusions and Relevance Russia needs to develop strategic technological platforms outside the scope of critical technologies in new post-industrial waves of innovation. It will contribute to maintenance of the necessary and sufficient level of technological security, technological and industrial competencies in Russia. Russia will be able to take technological leadership at least in the high-technology sector if it prioritizes critical technologies which are very likely to become predominant in the above waves, and concentrates intellectual resources to implement these plans.
