Subject The article discusses food supply issues of the Krasnoyarsk Krai, a Russian region exposed to severe natural conditions. Based on a systems approach, we determine prospects for increasing the food supply level of the region's population.
Objectives The research identifies priority measures to increase the food supply level of the population in the Krasnoyarsk Krai.
Methods The research involves methods of systems, statistical, comparative logic, factor analysis and expert assessment.
Results We specified the conceptual division of food security and food supply and respective categories. Based on the analysis, we evaluated the current situation and trends in the supply of food to the region's population, investigated the formation and allocation of food resources, assessed the future needs in food products, and suggested what should be done to improve the food supply in the region.
Conclusions In the analyzable period, the region's population consumed vegetables, gourds, berries, fruits, milk and diary products less than the rational standard. Despite an increase in food resources, the region's population does not receive enough milk and diary products, grain and vegetables. Considering the tone in the contemporary market, public-private partnership would be the most reasonable mechanism to make more effective and comprehensive decision in order to increase the food supply level. Food supply should be a well-ordered structure as a system and smoothly managed as a business process.
