Subject The article focuses on the conceptual principles for creating and developing the transportation and logistics infrastructure.
Objectives The research systematizes transportation and logistics infrastructure requirements and principles in accordance with stakeholders’ priorities.
Methods The research delves into current principles underlying the development of theoretical and methodological fundamentals of transportation and logistics infrastructure and integration of information technologies into the respective processes.
Results We systematized information on the transportation and logistics infrastructure and its key structural constituents, analyzes the specifics of key aspects, summarized an array of classification indicia to determine key agents of the transportation and logistics infrastructure, specified an approach to setting up fundamental requirements and principles for creating a modern and effective one.
Conclusions and Relevance The transportation and logistics infrastructure is mainly called to unite the transportation sector and modern digital logistics models into the single customer-oriented environment. If the community realizes and comprehends a set of challenges and opportunities for Russia’s transportation and transit potential, this will urge agents of the transportation and logistics sector to undertake technological initiatives, transform the existing business models and infuse new knowledge into managerial decisions. The convergence of the transportation and logistics sectors is expected to form the single scientific and technological discipline, thus supporting processes of transformation, digitization and management with relevant knowledge.
