Subject The article discusses the economic security of the construction sector in the Sverdlovsk Oblast, underlying the economic growth and labor productivity. In the process of its origination, the construction sector induces more research, generation of new knowledge, emergence of domestic innovation and inventions.
Objectives The study aims to analyze the main quantitative and qualitative economic characteristics of the construction sector. We also evaluate the potential threats to the economic security and the current trends in the construction sector.
Methods We used general scientific methods of scientific abstraction, formal and dialectic logic, deduction and induction, analysis and synthesis, empirical data analysis, comparative and structural analysis methods, economic and statistical data analysis, logical and systemic approaches, and comparison methods.
Results The article presents the comprehensive analysis of the construction sector in terms of economic security, which directly depends on internal and external ambiguities and threats that are manifested in unstable situations. We make our general suggestions on improving the economic security of manufacturing enterprises in the construction sector of the Sverdlovsk Oblast.
Conclusions and Relevance Despite the existing problems, there has been an active increase in housing construction investment for the recent years. Generally the construction sector demonstrates a tendency for development. In the socio-economic system of the Sverdlovsk Oblast, the economic security of the construction sector stems from its specific location factors in the region. Geographical and natural resource factors influence the competitiveness of construction companies of the Sverdlovsk Oblast.
