Importance The article deals with the issues of influence of socio-economic factors on the development of innovation activity in manufacturing.
Objectives The article aims to develop a methodology for assessment of the level of development of innovative activities in the manufacturing sector and identify the socio-economic factors that have the greatest impact on the process of innovation in the sector.
Methods For the study, I used methods of economic, statistical, and expert analyses, comparison and synthesis methods. To achieve the goal of the study, I used the methods of mathematical statistics, correlation, regression, and factor analyses. The Statistica 10 and MS Excel software ensured a high accuracy of the calculations.
Results On the basis of analysis of the works of domestic and foreign researchers, I developed and tested methods of evaluating the level of development of innovation activity in the manufacturing sector. I present an economic-mathematical model to determine the influence of socio-economic factors on the development of innovation activity in the manufacturing sector.
Conclusions The findings corroborate a significant role of socio-economic factors in the development of innovation in the manufacturing industry and the need to create conditions by the State power and administration bodies to stimulate R&D financing, human resource development, and upgrading of the manufacturing industry.
