Importance This article discusses the prospects of obtaining polycrystalline silicon from Karakum sand and considers the technical-economic and ecological importance of the development of photoenergetics in Turkmenistan. Objectives The article aims to study the problems of obtaining silicon from Karakum sand, reveal the socio-ecological and economic advantages of the development of photoenergetics and assess the prospects of construction of a solar photovoltaic modules production plant in Turkmenistan. Methods For the study, I performed certain analytical calculations. Results The article presents certain calculations on performance of various power units, energy prices, investment volumes, cost and economic capacity of solar modules manufacture. Conclusions Under market development, one of the factors of growth of productive forces of Turkmenistan is a shift of economy to an intensive way of development through introduction of innovation. The innovative manufacturing scheme of silicon purification, based on the use of high-purity Turkmen quartz, will accelerate industrialization and ensure a sustainable development of Turkmenistan.
