Subject This article considers the problem of development of strategic priorities of the regional innovation subsystem and quality of innovation-driven growth as the basic criterion for substantiation of area's development priorities.
Objectives The article aims to reveal the concept of quality of innovation-driven growth of the area and define criteria of innovative growth to justify strategic priorities of the region's innovation subsystem.
Methods For the study, I used logical and empirical methods of research.
Results According to the author, the article proposes an optimal regional innovation policy depending on the typology of regions of Russia based on the available factual data. It outlines strategic priorities for the development of innovation subsystems of such regions.
Relevance The results of the research can be applied when making decisions on the formation and development of State scientific, educational, innovation, and regional policies.
