Mechanisms and results of adaptation of the Altai Krai to changes in the external and internal environment in the context of cyclical economic development
Subject This article analyzes the mechanisms and results of adaptation of the economy of an agro-industrial development area to changes in the external and internal environment, inherent in different economic cyclical trends. The Altai Krai is considered as a case study. Objectives The article aims to identify the features of the agro-industrial region's socio-economic development in different economic cyclical trends. Methods The study involves a statistical analysis and the dynamic method. Results The article reveals and describes the peculiarities of the dynamics of the Altai Krai's economic development in the phase of post-crisis recovery and growth and in the phase of slowing down, the formation of the crisis of 2008–2009, and the transition to the recession phase. Conclusions Cyclical fluctuations in the economies of the Altai Krai and Russia coincide concerning the main features, but the dynamics of the Altai Krai's socio-economic development has certain salient features in comparison with the trends Russia-wide. Although the economic cyclical trends are identical to some extent, the differences relate to their duration and the time they started and ended.
