Subject This article considers the social protection of the population as a necessary element of performance of a developed State. Objectives The article aims to analyze the information management of the social protection system of the Republic of Dagestan population and assess the state and prospects of the system in the modern period. Methods For the study, we used data analysis methods. Results Describing the main problems of information provision of the social protection system in the Republic of Dagestan and assessing the Federal targeted programs in the field of IT penetration and development, the article highlights the main prospects in this area. Conclusions Information technology is essential for making correct management decisions and optimizing the management process. Implementing the project Development of an Automated Information System for Social Protection of the Population in the Republic of Dagestan will contribute to the better promotion of information technology, and the process of management and interaction with the region's population will be more productive. It is necessary to form the main components of a unified information system at a fundamentally new level.
