Subject This article discusses the problems of the local food market of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) and ways to address them through commodity intervention.
Objectives The article aims to justify the need for purchasing intervention in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) and develop proposals for its promoting to other regions of Russia.
Methods For the study, we used a statistical analysis and content analysis of literature sources.
Results The article describes a list of serious problems and challenges faced by local agricultural producers in Yakutia.
Conclusions The urgency of the problem of procurement interventions is due to the remoteness of the regions from the center and the low level of development of regional transport infrastructure. Commodity intervention in Yakutia is required to support local producers and protect public health from low-quality imported food.
