Subject. This article examines the issues of public management by objectives of socio-economic development of a heavily subsidized constituent entity of the Russian Federation.
Objectives. The article aims to analyze the departmental affiliation of government-sanctioned programmes of the Republic of Dagestan and their role in the implementation of federal State programmes.
Methods. For the study, we used general scientific research methods.
Results. The article finds that the number of the Republican executive bodies taking part in the implementation of federal State programmes is excessive. Less than one percent of the Republican budget expenditures are planned to be allocated to support the activities of the majority of regional executive bodies and implement the majority of government-sanctioned programmes of the Republic of Dagestan.
Conclusions. At the regional level, it is necessary to improve the quality of interdepartmental cooperation in the process of implementing national State programmes, which involves optimizing budget expenditures of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
