Subject. This article discusses the issues of overcoming economic stagnation and solving the problems of depressed regions. Objectives. The article aims to determine the parameters that are of great importance for the development of the Chuvash Republic's economy. Methods. For the study, we used a correlation and regression analysis. Results. The article finds that there is an increase in the gross regional product of the Chuvash Republic and consolidated budget revenues, but the population, including the size of the labor force (employed and unemployed aged 15–72) gets decreasing. Manufacturing industries dominate in the structure of the Chuvash Republic's economy. Conclusions. It is necessary to diversify the sources of growth of the gross regional product of the Chuvash Republic and ensure the implementation of the national project Demography.
